Kansas City Chiefs fans were elated when news broke over the weekend that Chris Jones was signing a five-year deal with the team, likely finishing his career as a Chief. The deal was struck days before free agency began meaning that teams didn't have a chance to reach out to Jones and try to pry him away.

Patrick Mahomes was probably the most excited (outside of Jones, of course) about the deal, and turns out, he knew this was coming moments after the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years. While on the podium following the overtime win, Mahomes said to Jones "Hey bro, you ain't going nowhere. I promise you." The two then agreed that they wanted to be the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row.

Mahomes assured Jones that he would remain a Chief following the Super Bowl

Of course, this could be looked at as one of those conversations that would happen in a glorious moment of winning the Super Bowl but it wasn't the first time Jones expressed his interest in staying in Kansas City. Following the overtime win, Jones was sitting down with one of the post-game crews and said he hopes the Chiefs can keep him.

The big moment, however, was when Jones got on the microphone at the Super Bowl rally and drunkenly declared that he was staying in Kansas City, which led to a hilarious reaction from his agent begging that his client get cut off from alcohol. People didn't necessarily believe that Jones would stay in Kansas City after that drunken speech but turns out, Jones really meant it.

Jones is one of the big three in Kansas City with the other two being Mahomes and Travis Kelce and these three guys now have three Super Bowl rings and want to add more hardware to their collection. They have the possibility to do it in 2024 now that Jones is back.
