The quest for another NFL MVP award is still alive for Patrick Mahomes after winning a crucial game in Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins.

Mahomes tossed a pair of touchdowns in the win, and the performance was enough for the Chiefs (7-2) to knock off the Dolphins to keep a hold on the top spot in the AFC. While the Baltimore Ravens are in contention, Mahomes took down a key MVP candidate in Tua Tagovailoa in Week 9 – dropping the Dolphins quarterback’s odds to +650 to win the MVP award at DraftKings Sportsbook.

There’s still time to bet on Mahomes to win the MVP – as he enters the bye week in a tie with two quarterbacks at the top of the odds board at DraftKings. At DraftKings Sportsbook, Mahomes (+350), is currently tied with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to win the league’s MVP award.

While Hurts plays for the team with the best record in the NFL, it may be Jackson who is a bigger threat to Mahomes’ MVP case.

If the Ravens keep playing at a high level and eventually take the top spot in the AFC, Mahomes is going to have a hard time winning the MVP if Kansas City finishes below them in the final standings.

He’ll need to significantly outperform Jackson statistically, and that’s going to be tough given the Baltimore quarterback’s dual-threat ability.

Patrick Mahomes MVP odds

Mahomes is still in a great spot to take home his third MVP of his career. He’s thrown for 17 scores in nine games this season and is completing a career-high 68.6 percent of his passes.

Kansas City has a massive game in Week 11 for the MVP race, as it takes on Hurts and the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

If the Chiefs win that game, they’ll not only have a path to the best record in the NFL this season, but Mahomes will have taken down two MVP candidates in as many games.

If you think the Chiefs are going to win in Week 11, this may be the best time to get Mahomes at a favorable number (+350) this season.
