The entire afternoon so far at Arrowhead Stadium has been a celebratory affair for Chiefs Kingdom as they host the Chicago Bears for their scheduled matchup in Week 3. The Chiefs defense has dominated. The offense has rolled. Special teams looks good and even short-yardage woes have disappeared. But all of that fell away with a single play when Yannick Ngakoue fell late on a pass-rushing attempt on the ankle of Patrick Mahomes and rolled it shortly before halftime.

The collective gasp you heard with just seconds left in the first half of the Chiefs-Bears game came when Mahomes came up limping and favoring an ankle that had been rolled after completing a pass that will clearly be looked at during halftime.

Mahomes actually stayed in the game despite being in obvious pain to finish out the half, and the Chiefs have to feel good about a 34-0 lead, but Andy Reid and his staff will have some considerations to make as to whether or not it's worth allowing Mahomes to continue to play during a game that's looked decided since the first quarter.

In case you missed it, here's the play on which Mahomes hurt his ankle.

Through the first half, Mahomes has completed 20 of 27 passes for 221 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also has three carries for 28 yards on the ground.

There's no official update yet, but all eyes will be on his status going forward—a development that's much more important than the rout taking place at Arrowhead this week.
