You just knew it was coming.

After practicing the play in training camp multiple times, the Kansas City Chiefs finally pulled out a new sort of trickery for Patrick Mahomes to attempt with a behind-the-back toss to tight end Travis Kelce in the first half of the team's preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday.

The results were everything you might expect, but first, if you haven't already caught the play, you need to take it in.

Looking back at the throw, it's clear that Mahomes needs to get that a bit higher and more in stride to Kelce, but it's amazing that he got there at all. The risk factor is likely a bit much to try that when it's not the preseason, but then again, if it catches a defense off guard, never say never, right?

You can see a live response from fans in the stands who witnessed it with their own eyes.

Even those sitting in the press box could only laugh in response.

And of course, Chiefs Kingdom responded as you might expect. The confidence factor at this point is unchartable.

We're not sure what's left at this point, because we've got heroic experiences like 13 seconds or The Scramble or Jet Chip Wasp. We also have left-handed passes, diving shortstop passes, and now a behind-the-back.

It's all magic. Truly magic.
