  • Wild Card Round: January 13-15, 2024

Format for 2023-24 NFL Playoffs

The format for the NFL playoffs has changed a bit in the last couple of years. In 2020, the NFL negotiated with the Player's Association to make some major schedule changes that added a 17th game to the regular season, removed a preseason exhibition, and invited one more team from each conference to participate in the postseason.

The shift in the collective bargaining agreement brought the total number of teams to 14, which means 7 franchises from the AFC and another 7 from the NFC willl make it to postseason contention. From there, the bottom six teams will battle it out in the Wild Card round with only the top seed in each conference earning a first-round bye.

Predictions for 2023-24 NFL Playoffs

The Chiefs will win it all.

Did you expect anything else from a site dedicated to covering all things Chiefs? Even if that were not the case, however, the Chiefs are the defending champs who return all of the core pieces from a Super Bowl run. They did so with a load of freshmen on defense and that bodes well for the future ceiling of a unit that will see Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, Nick Bolton, Bryan Cook, Willie Gay Jr., Jaylen Watson, Joshua Williams, and more make leaps in their performances with more experience.

The Eagles came out losers last year and they might do so again since a rematch seems like the best bet, especially for Philly given the fairly easy path through the NFC. As for the AFC, the Chiefs will face stiff competition but they've proven their ability to knock off the contenders already. No reason to doubt them now.
