In the wake of trauma and tragedy, some hope can often be found in the beauty of organic connections made toward greater healing and a better world. That's certainly true in the way that so many have rallied together to support the immediate family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

Lopez Galvan was one of multiple shooting victims and the lone fatality from Wednesday's horrific shooting during the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade. She will be missed as a member of the local music community and even more as a wife and mother of two.

It's heartening to see such a groundswell of donations for a family facing such an unthinkable tragedy.

In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe has been set up for Lopez-Galvan's family in order to help ease the financial burdens that will arise not only in the aftermath of the shooting but also in the months to come. The initial ask was $75K on the part of the event's organizer, but the beautiful generosity of others has also met that total and then some.

As of press time, Lopez-Galvan's memorial fund was fast approaching $200K with $100K of that provided pop singer Taylor Swift. Yet even with that gift, Kansas CIty had already rallied around one of its own to help take care of the financial burdens.

Of course, that amount is only a small part of what will be needed by the family moving forward and so many others will also have needs depending on the severity of the injuries, medical needs, and any work lost going forward or further physical limitations. Here's hoping the generous spirit continues in helping to heal this community.
