If you sat down to watch the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Jacksonville Jaguars for an afternoon of enjoyable football, no one would blame you at this point if you just needed to take a quick timeout of your own. That's especially true if you're a member of Chiefs Kingdom, because that means you've been watching your favorite team figure out new ways to shoot themselves in the foot for the entirety of the first half.
Just one week after numerous errors, drops, penalties, and weird play calls cost the Chiefs in a one-pont loss to the Detroit Lions, even sillier mistakes are being made as they take to the road for the first time against Jacksonville.
If you came to watch a decent game between the Chiefs and Jaguars, you're instead watching a comedy of errors—especially on KC's part.
So far in the first half, the Chiefs have figured out how to commit errors of every single kind. There was a holding penalty that killed a promising drive. There was a pass interference call to ruin a defensive stop. There were also more short-yardage antics instead of calling for a straightforward play..
Check out this muffed punt by Richie James. that gave the ball back to the Jags in the red zone.

Then there was another fumble from Justin Watson trying to extend a catch.

Or check out this interception thrown by Mahomes to Andre Cisco shortly after getting the ball back on offense.

Jaguars went 2 games with no sacks and virtually no pressures on Mahomes last season. Talk all week was rectifying that. pic.twitter.com/JnesXId583
And that's all on the part of the Chiefs.
The good news for K.C. is that the Jags haven't looked that much better. The Jags fumbled the ball right back to the Chiefs shortly after Watson gave them the football. The Jags also haven't taken greater advantage of so many errors on the part of the Chiefs, and as of press time, the Chiefs are only down by 3 points. That won't continue, of course, if the Chiefs can't get their act together.
The good news is that the Chiefs can only get better from here. They're playing stiff and careless so far and it's resulted in zero points and missed opportunities. If they don't turn things around soon, they'll end up 0-2 by the end of the afternoon.
