Round 5, Pick 173: Dillon Johnson, RB, Washington

After transferring from Mississippi St. to Washington, Dillon Johnson had an excellent 2023 with over 1,300 all-purpose yards. Johnson was the lead back for the best offense in college football.

An exciting size/speed combo, Johnson is an effective downhill runner who has been a factor in the passing game as well. He's one of the best pass-protecting backs in the class which is a big need for the Chiefs. He can also fit into inside or outsize zone schemes.

With Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire being the only running backs returning for 2024, the need for Johnson is obvious. Even if the Chiefs like Deneric Prince (a camp darling from 2023), there's still a role for Johnson. He could be their potential passing down back, a role they've used frequently over the years.
