Update: Good news for Chicago. Fields has returned to play in the fourth quarter for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears have been heading for a loss all afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium when facing the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, but they might have suffered an even bigger loss with the news that Justin Fields has been taken out of the game due to an injury.

Fields was already having a day to forget, but he was still trying to help the Bears move the chains early in the fourth quarter when he was hit by Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. who was diving to make the tackle.

From there, Fields got up and was walking on the field as if he might remain in the game when Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore ran to grab him and have him removed from the game. It was clear that Fields was not quite right and the Bears did the right thing by taking every precaution and going with his backup.

Before his injury, Fields had completed only 6 of 16 passing attempts for 42 total passing yards and 1 interception. He was able to scramble for 46 yards on the day on 10 carries. When he left, the Bears were down 41-0.

If the Bears are forced to play without Justin Fields going forward, Nathan Peterman is next in line on the depth chart.
