Josh Jacobs reveals he doesn't like winning Super Bowls

Well all righty then.

Kansas City Chiefs fans had the unfortunate pleasure of watching Josh Jacobs tear things up for the Las Vegas Raiders over the past five years. The Raiders did not sign Jacobs to a long-term extension following the 2023 season and he's now heading to Wisconsin to play for the Green Bay Packers.

Jacobs signed a massive (at least for a running back) four-year deal worth $48 million, tying him to Green Bay through 2027 (though there is an out on the contract after one year).

Why are we talking about Jacobs on a Chiefs page, you ask? Well, it turns out that the Chiefs apparently tried to recruit Jacobs and lure him to Kansas City this past offseason. According to Dan Pompei of The Athletic, the Chiefs told Jacobs' agent that they were interested in signing the long-time Raider.

“They were trying to get me hard,” he said. “But there was no way I was going there. I feel like once you are rivals with somebody, you have a genuine hate for them. I couldn’t see myself in that color. And besides, I never wanted to be the guy that joined the dominant team. I want to be the guy that beats the dominant team.”

Josh Jacobs cites rivalry for why he didn't sign with the Chiefs

Jacobs mentioned how the Chiefs were recruiting him hard but he knew that he wouldn't end up in Kansas City. He points to the rivalry his former team had with the Chiefs and how he has "a genuine hate for [the Chiefs]".

Jacobs also said that he doesn't want to join the dominant team and would rather be on the team that takes down the dominant team. This is coming from a guy who played his college football at Alabama so take that for what it's worth.

While Jacobs would have improved the Chiefs running back room, they avoided overpaying someone and still have Isiah Pacheco as their RB1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Carson Steele, and Samaje Perine make up the rest of the running back room so there is some good experience and intriguing players (looking at you, Steele) on the depth chart.

It's Jacobs' loss choosing Green Bay over Kansas City. He clearly decided he doesn't like winning Super Bowls.
