The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back Jerick McKinnon in Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

McKinnon is dealing with a groin injury, leaving Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire as the top running backs for Kansas City this week.

The veteran McKinnon has been dealing with this groin injury for a couple of weeks, and it looks like him sitting out this game is a chance to get him healthy.

McKinnon has been ruled out for Week 12 against the Raiders with a groin injury.

Isiah Pacheco anytime touchdown scorer

With McKinnon out, Pacheco should have an even bigger role than usual out of the Kansas City backfield.

This season, Pacheco has just four total touchdowns, but with the Chiefs’ wide receivers struggling, it’s possible Pacheco is more heavily involved in the red zone this week.

So far this season, the Raiders have allowed 10 rushing scores – the 10th most in the NFL. They’re certainly beatable on the ground, especially with Maxx Crosby (doubtful) likely missing this game.

Jerick McKinnon injury history

While McKinnon has been relatively healthy as a member of the Chiefs, he did miss the 2018 and 2019 seasons due to significant knee injuries.

The Chiefs may want to play it safe with the running back’s groin ailment.

  • Oct. 2016: Pedal Ankle Sprain/Pull – missed rest of game and following week
  • Aug. 2018: Leg Calf Strain – injured in practice prior to season
  • Sept. 2018: Knee ACL Tear Grade 3 – missed entire season
  • Aug. 2019: Knee LCL Tear Grade 3 – missed entire season

When is Jerick McKinnon coming back?

With McKinnon already ruled out for this week, his next chance to return for the Chiefs will come in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers. McKinnon has not been placed on injured reserve, so this shouldn’t be a long-term absence.
