Every year, the National Football League's annual first-year player draft has a series of special guests making the announcements of the player selections from time to time—from the host city having several local participants to armed forces reps delivering the draft news in various rounds.
This year, the second and third rounds will feature several football legends announcing the picks for each team on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. For the Kansas City Chiefs, a legendary running back will be making the call.
The Chiefs are turning to a legendary running back to announce their picks on Friday night in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Former Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles has been tabbed to announce the Chiefs selections in the second and third rounds of this year's draft in Detroit. At the present time, those selections are scheduled to be made at No. 64 overall in the second round and No. 95 overall in the third round.
Charles needs no introduction as the most dynamic rusher in the history of the franchise—and that's saying something with other luminaries like Priest Holmes, Marcus Allen, Abner Haynes, Larry Johnson, and more.
In his nine-year career for the Chiefs, Charles rushed 1,332 times for 7,260 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also caught 285 passes for another 2,457 yards and 20 scores through the air. He retired as the franchise leader in rushing yards and as the NFL's all-time leader in yards per carry with 5.4. Charles is also a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro.
The second round of the draft begins on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. C.T.
