Jalen Carter's diving interception attempt on ball spike is kinda genius

We hate to say anything positive about a potential INT of Mahomes, but you gotta credit Jalen Carter here.

Look, we would never ever want to say anything positive about a Kansas City Chiefs turnover. The sight of any Isiah Pacheco fumble or Patrick Mahomes interception makes us sick to our collective stomachs. As likable as any opposing team might be, we're just never going to find anything positive about loss of possession.

That's also true of almost turnovers—save for this one.

Yeah, if that sounds weird that we're tipping our hat to a player who almost got the best of Patrick Mahomes, then you missed the creative genius and/or admirable effort at work at the very end of the first half of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday Night Football.

We hate to say anything positive about a potential INT of Mahomes, but you gotta credit Jalen Carter here.

As it turns out, Eagles rookie lineman Jalen Carter has earned our respect here:

In this scenario, the Chiefs are scrambling to hurry up and spike the ball before attempting a last-second field goal attempt to go up two scores over the visiting Eagles in a clash between last year's Super Bowl competitors. And instead of just going through the motions on a play like this on the defensive side, someone along the line decides to go the extra and unexpected mile and come up with a genius play.

Carter said he got the idea from a high school player on YouTube.

We're glad the Chiefs didn't turn the ball over there, but it would have been difficult to be upset with that kind of effort.
