The Kansas City Chiefs will have one key weapon in the lineup on Thursday night, as receiver Kadarius Toney is expected to play despite having a meniscus trim earlier this offseason.

This is huge for Kansas City, especially with star tight end Travis Kelce’s status in question for this Week 1 showdown.

Kadarius Toney injury status for Week 1 game against Detroit Lions

The Chiefs have not given Toney an injury designation in Week 1, which means he should be good to go against the Lions.

Toney, Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and others will vie for targets at the receiver spot in this potent Kansas City offense.

Best Kadarius Toney prop bet for Week 1 vs. Lions

Toney didn’t have a ton of time to really mesh with Kansas City last season because of a hamstring injury, but he made an impact when he was on the field, catching two scores in the regular season and the go-ahead touchdown in the Super Bowl.

I don’t mind taking Toney as a player to score a touchdown tonight, especially since there’s a chance Kelce (knee) is unable to go.

Toney has a chance to establish himself as one of the top options in the Chiefs’ passing game this season if he can stay healthy.

Kadarius Toney injury history

A first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Toney has dealt with his fair share of injuries in his NFL career.

He missed Weeks 3 through 7 and 11 through 13 last season with hamstring injuries, limiting him to just nine total games in his second NFL season.

As a rookie, he played in 10 games for the New York Giants, but he missed time with ankle, quad and oblique injuries.

It’s hard to say if Toney will remain healthy in 2023, but for now he is, which is a great sign for the Chiefs.
