“Now that’s what I call high-quality H2O!"

When it comes to waterboys, it's likely that the majority of football fans will conjure images of the great Bobby Boucher and the hilarity of watching Adam Sandler in the movie titled The Waterboy. But what about the real thing? What about the behind-the-scenes personnel for NFL franchises who make sure players are hydrated and taken care of at a moment's notice in the short moments they have on a sideline.

When it comes to the compensation of waterboys at the leve of professional football, it's impossible to find an exact amount of what each waterboy is paid per team. The salary of waterboys will vary depending on the team and the specific arrangements made by the team's decision-makers. However, it's important to note that the term "waterboy" typically refers to an entry-level position that involves providing water and other supplies to players during games and practices—thus it is generally not a highly paid role.

Some insight was gained recently, however, when former NFL player Jake Thieneman took to Tik Tok to talk about the role of a waterboy. He stated the average salary was around $53,000. He also noted that those persons are also far more qualified than most casual fans will notice—as they're certified athletic trainers who have been educated for years in the field.

While the compensation is pitiful compared to other outlets for similarly educated persons in the field, the opportunity to get a foot in the door in the biggest sport in the U.S. is a challenge some are hungry to undertake.
