Trevor Sikkema's 2024 NFL Mock Draft 4.0
The Pick: Brian Thomas Jr.
Our Grade: A+
Our Reaction: Last week we broke down our top 10 WR in the draft. Thomas came in at No. 4 so landing him at pick 26 would certainly be a great value for the Chiefs. Thomas is everything the Chiefs like in a receiver prospect: speed and separation.
With a 53.8 percentile contested catch rate and an average depth of target of 12.3 yards, Thomas is a reliable deep threat. Thomas is more than speed though his 6'4", 200 lb. frame allows him to be aggressive at the catch point. He's been a great red zone option for one of college football's best offenses.
Thomas' fit is obvious for the Chiefs as they need more explosive players on offense. Right now, his most likely outcome is basically what MVS was last year. He has speed and size but hasn't developed a full route tree to be a true WR1. However, he has all the tools and traits to be an alpha receiver and could develop in that area. Also, having a cost-effective rookie to replace MVS would be a positive too.
With the speed of Thomas and the explosiveness of Rice, doubling Travis Kelce or stacking the box against Isiah Pacheco becomes much more difficult for Chiefs opponents.
