We're not sure why NFL veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland insists on surrounding himself with illegal firearms, an assortment of drugs, and the occasional stolen car. We can only presume he's been playing too much Grand Theft Auto 5 or is just stuck in some really bad decision-making patterns.

Either way, Breeland needs to stop.

sPer the New York Post, Breeland was arrested over the weekend and faces multiple charges after assaulting Charlotte, North Carolina police officers who were called to the scene for a drug call.

Yeah, Bashaud Breeland shouldn't be allowed to make any big decisions for the foreseeable future.

Breeland faces a number of misdemeanor and felony charges from the event, including felony drug charges and misdemeanor assault and resisting arrest. Per the Charlotte Observer, stolen firearms were also found along with marijuana, mushrooms, opioid pain relievers and more.

Complicating this matter is an unresolved series of charges dating back to last August, also in Charlotte, where Breeland was arrested with a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV along with several more guns and drugs.

Breeland will be familiar to Chiefs Kingdom from his two-year stint with the team in 2019-2020 in which he started 26 games and had 4 interceptions, aiding a defense that helped the Chiefs win their first Super Bowl in 50 seasons.

Three other teams—the Washington Football Team, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings—have employed Breeland as well, but he hasn't played in the NFL since the 2021 season when he started 13 games for the Vikes.

Here's hoping Breeland stops making destructive choices and finds a healthy way forward on the other side of his playing career.
