Some players on the Atlanta Falcons were smarting a bit more than everyone else following a close loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in primetime on Sunday Night Football in Week 3. Kaleb McGary was one of those Falcons.

The Falcons ended up watching two of their starting offensive linemen leave the game with an injury against the Chiefs: right tackle Kaleb McGary and center Drew Dalman. Now it appears the Falcons could be without McGary for more than just Sunday.

The Falcons had some more salt poured into the wound of losing to the Chiefs in Week 3.

NFL reporter Ian Rapoport broke the news on Monday morning that McGary had suffered an MCL sprain at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and would need further tests. An MRI is scheduled for the six-year veteran.

Both McGary and Dalman were unable to return to the game after their initial injuries. No further details have been given about Dalman yet.

McGary is a former first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft for the Falcons who has grown to be a very good tackle on the right side. The Falcons rewarded him with a three-year extension last year, so any time without him of any length will hurt the Falcons' ability to keep Kirk Cousins upright in the pocket or anchor the ground game for Bijan Robinson on his side of the line.

This next stretch of games is vital for the Falcons as they face every division rival in the next three weeks—beginning with a visit from the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
