Dolphins vs. Chiefs key players to watch
Miami Dolphins
Tyreek Hill: The former star receiver for the Chiefs, Tyreek Hill, will get a chance to play against his former team in a pivotal game that may help determine the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Hill is on pace to smashing the record for the most receiving yards in a single NFL season, including being on pace to be the first receiver to eclipse 2,000 yards.
Kansas City Chiefs
Trent McDuffie and L'Jarius Snead: The matchup everyone is going to be watching on Sunday is Tyreek Hill against the two starting cornerbacks of the Chiefs. The Kansas City secondary has been one of the best in the NFL this season, but now it has its toughest test to date. The game may be won or lost on the play of McDuffie and Snead.
Dolphins vs. Chiefs prediction and pick
It may be a bit of a boring bet to place, but I think the UNDER 51 is the smart move in this AFC showdown.
The Chiefs secondary has the tools to slow down, if not completely shut down, the passing game of the Dolphins. They're allowing just 5.5 yards per pass attempt and they're second in opponent dropback success rate and third in opponent EPA per dropback. With that being said, I do think the Dolphins will find some success on the ground against them, but that's going to keep the clock moving and limit their explosive plays that hurt an UNDER bet.
While the Chiefs offense has been effective, it hasn't been the explosive high-scoring unit that we're used to seeing, so we need to adjust how we view this Chiefs squad. With a good defense and an offense that takes what's given to them, they're built to win more lower scoring games than years past.
With the total in the 50s, I'm backing the UNDER.
