On the one hand, the Kansas City Chiefs are still waiting for test results to come back and tell them the official status of wide receiver Rashee Rice. On the other hand, everyone seems to already know that the results are not going to be good.

Dark clouds were hovering over the Chiefs' win in Week 4 over the Los Angeles Chargers knowing that their best offensive weapon was lost early in the game to a serious-looking knee injury that forced the team to designate him as "out" quickly after he visited the locker room.

Everyone seems like they're expecting the worst for the second-year wide receiver.

Just in case you missed the actual play, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception in the first half to Chargers defensive back Kristian Fulton. As Fulton was running the ball back toward the end zone, Mahomes went for a diving tackle and ended up hitting the right leg/knee of Rice instead, sending him to the locker room for the rest of the game.

Following the game, it was clear that Rice as going to be facing some significant time missed by juding the statements made—even those that were murky at best. It's also true that reports coming out of Arrowhead are "fearing the worst," such as what Jordan Schultz passed along on X.

Adam Schefter of ESPN took it a step further and called it a likely torn ACL for Rice.

Considering how valuable Rice has proven to be for the Chiefs in his second season, with 24 catches for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns in 3 games, it's going to be a tall order for K.C. to adequately replace him this season—whether in a "next man up" scenario from the current roster or via import before the trade deadline.
