Chiefs Kingdom was blessed with a bonus episode of the chart-topping podcast series New Heights with Travis and Jason Kelce this week. The show was anchored by a featured guest: Chiefs defensive tackle Chris "Stone Cold" Jones.

This New Heights episode was electric as Jones opened up about missing Chiefs training camp, his first impressions of Travis Kelce, and more.

Kelce helps woo Stone Cold

Earlier this offseason, there was a lot of talk about Chris Jones's holdout and how long it would be until he would take the field. At one point, he posted that he could be out until Week 8. At that stage, on his podcast, Travis Kelce made an attempt to bring the All-Pro back to Kansas City.

In the video, Kelce is seen pleading to his teammate, "Ah man, Chris, can you please come back? You're really scaring me, man. I don't get it. You must know something that I don't know because I just don't get it. I really want to get another Super Bowl ring with you brother. This is me bargaining with you to just come back and play football for the Chiefs. Please, we need you. We need you bad. And I don't know what the situation is."

While on the podcast this week, Jones confirmed that his teammate's plea was one of the reasons that he made quick work of his holdout, signing a contract and reporting to the team. With open arms, Jones was welcomed back to the team and went straight to work. Kelce mentioned his love for Stone Cold and how happy he was to see Jones when he made his long-awaited return to practice.

Chiefs kingdom was just as happy Travis, I promise.

Vacation trumps training camp

Many were worried about Jones's absence from training camp, saying he would be "rusty" when he got back on the field. Well, Week 2 showed us that Jones was ready to play, in his first game "off the couch," Jones played 51% of the defensive snaps recording 1.5 sacks and 2 quarterback hits. When asked about missing training camp, Jones said it may have been the best thing for him.

โ€œListen, bro โ€“ training camp? Staying in St. Joseph, Missouri? In a dorm? Itโ€™s the best thing I could have missed โ€“ I was in Miami, soaking up the sun. I was tanning on the beach a couple days, bro. I think itโ€™s the best thing for me to miss training camp.โ€

Jones would later double down on the claim, stating that his body feels fresh, and he feels really good, which is good for Chiefs fans because the Chiefs will need Jones to continue to be fresh to ensure the defense remains as dominant as it has been in the first three weeks.

I don't think missing training camp will be an actual strategy for the Chiefs and Jones in the future because having the cornerstone of the defense gone when the offseason starts does not sound like a productive move, but right now the time off seems to have been great for Jones on and off the field.

First impressions of Travis Kelce

One of the funnier portions of the episode was when Jones was asked about his first impression of Travis Kelce. He had this to say: โ€œIโ€™m like, this is โ€˜Malibu Most Wantedโ€™ all the way. This is B-Rad, bro. First away game, Trav had this beanie on with this cool aโ€“ sweater with the glasses. Iโ€™m like this is Malibu all over again, bro.โ€

This is a throwback to the 2003 comedy Malibu's Most Wanted, which according to IMDB, is" A film where a senator arranges for his son, a rich white kid who fancies himself black, to be kidnapped by a couple of black actors pretending to be murderers to try and shock him out of his plans to become a rapper." This was met with smiles and laughs by the group.

Chris Jones may be short-yard solution

The Eagles have perfected the "Tush-Push", and there has been differing opinions on if the play should be banned from the NFL, but Chris Jones may have a play that could be even more lethal, and that is the Chris Jones draw.

Kansas City Chiefs incorporating defensive players to get involved on the offensive side of the ball is not new. In 2006, defensive end Jarred Allen got a short touchdown pass from Damon Huard in a game against the San Diego Chargers. In more recent memory, and most importantly under head coach Andy Reid, Dontari Poe was used in a trick play against the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day in 2016, where he faked a run and threw a jump pass to Demetrius Harris for a touchdown.

The newest addition to the defensive player trick plays could be the Chris Jones draw for short-yardage situations. In the podcast, Chris Jones was asked about the offensive play and said, "I have been waiting on Andy to put me in the backfield for something!"

This was in response to Chris being asked about an interception in a game, and he said, "if a defensive player gets a touchdown you have to go crazy." Can you imagine Chris Jones lining up in the backfield and just running over anyone in front of him? This is something that I would love to see.

The question we are all asking

If you were not aware, Taylor Swift was present at the Week 3 victory against the Chicago Bears, Jason Kelce asked Jones if he bumped into Taylor Swift on the way home after the game, and Jones was very clear on his response: "Hell, yeah, I put it on. Straight up! That's my dog!"
