Chris Jones debuts hilariously bad Cris Collinsworth impression on ManningCast
The Kansas City Chiefs were a part of the first game of the Week 1 slate and Chris Jones joined the Manning brothers for the last game of Week 1, appearing on the ManningCast on ESPN2. Peyton and Eli Manning have a separate show during the Monday night game where they riff on each other, discuss plays, and have special guests join them to partake in the festivities.
Jones was one of three guests the Mannings had on for their first show of the 2024 season, joining the brothers in the fourth quarter. Most of Jones' appearance was uneventful, as he and the Mannings discussed the final few minutes of the game.
Where Jones might have wished he could go back and change things, however, was when Eli asked him about his Cris Collinsworth impression. Eli asked Jones to do the impression during the next play and it was... not great.
Chris Jones might need to fine-tune his impressions
Jones does his best impression of the Sunday Night Football color commentator but anyone familiar with Collinsworth knows he sounded nothing like the guy. The Mannings are trying to be polite and laugh during it but the whole segment is pretty bad.
In Jones' defense, Eli brought the impression up and put the Chiefs defensive lineman on the spot. While declining the offer to do an impression might be considered rude, maybe this is one of those times when he should have said, "Hey, you know what? I haven't really perfected it yet."
Maybe Jones truly thought his impression was a good one or maybe he was just trolling all of us. If he's the one talking up his impressions, maybe he needs to ease off of those a bit because this was pretty off the mark.
As long as Chris Jones can continue to sack quarterbacks on the field, Chiefs fans don't care how bad his impression of the NBC broadcaster is.
