Chiefs vs. Saints: Handing out the game balls from preseason Week 1
By Tyler Brown
Defense game ball winner: Kahlef Hailassie
This one was a toss-up between rookie defensive back Kahief Hailassie and newly acquired linebacker Drue Tranquill. Turnovers are king on defense, so let's ride with Hailassie on this one.
While Tranquill ended his debut with five tackles and a sack of Saints quarterback Jameis Winston, Hailassie sniped an interception off a pass from Jake Haener. The former Western Kentucky cornerback also had four tackles to go along with the turnover.
Rookie game ball: Nikko Remigio
We have seen Nikko Remigio get a lot of buzz throughout the Chiefs' training came in St. Joe. Remigio had a very productive college career at Cal and Fresno State and he channeled that into his first pro exhibition game.
Remigio had four catches on six targets for 71 yards, which included a 24-yarder. The Chiefs also had him return three kicks in total. He was a highly touted returner in college and will have to stand out in that area to make the team. Kansas City has incredible depth at wide receiver this camp, so Remigio has his work cut out for him. He likely sits at the eighth receiver spot on the depth chart, as best.
There you have it, Chiefs Kindom. Let us know who we missed in our first edition of game ball winners.
