Chiefs vs. Patriots prediction, odds, spread, injuries, trends for NFL Week 15
By Jovan Alford
The Kansas City Chiefs are struggling a little bit, dropping three out of their last four games. However, it's too early to give up on the defending Super Bowl champions, who have the talent on both sides to bounce back from a tough loss.
The Chiefs will go on the road for the second time in the last three games to play the New England Patriots on Sunday. Kansas City opened as 9.5-point road favorites over the three-win Pats, but the number has moved to 9.

Chiefs vs. Patriots Key Players to Watch
Kansas City Chiefs
Rashee Rice: If you haven’t brought stock yet on the rookie wide receiver, you are missing out. Rice has been the Chiefs’ best wideout this season, which is shocking as they have Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The rookie wideout has 59 receptions for 663 yards and six touchdowns this season.
In last Sunday’s loss to the Bills, Rice recorded seven receptions (10 targets) for 72 yards and a touchdown. Over his past three games, the former SMU standout is averaging 81 yards on 9.7 targets per game.
New England Patriots
Ezekiel Elliott: The veteran running back turned back the clock against the Steelers last week. Elliott had 68 yards on 22 carries, seven receptions (eight targets) for 72 yards and a touchdown. With Rhamondre Stevenson dealing with a high-ankle sprain, Elliott did an excellent job filling in on a short week. Elliott will likely see a heavy workload on Sunday as the Pats try to slow down this Chiefs’ front seven.
Chiefs vs. Patriots Prediction and Pick
The Chiefs went out bad last week against the Bills as they should’ve won last week, but had the potential game-winning touchdown called back due to an offsides penalty by Toney. KC has had a couple of uncharacteristic losses at home recently, but we know they can get back on track.
This week’s game against the Patriots is the perfect get-right spot for the Chiefs. New England played well against the Steelers as Bailey Zappe threw for three touchdowns. However, the Steelers’ offense isn’t great and doesn’t have weapons like the Chiefs’ offense.
For the Pats to keep this game close, they’ll have to control the clock with Elliott on the ground against a Chiefs’ run defense that allows 114.9 yards per game. That being said, I don’t see Zappe having time in the pocket against the Chiefs’ defensive line, which is tied for third in sacks (42).
As for the Chiefs’ offense, Mahomes will have some trouble against this Patriots’ pass defense as they are ranked 15th in opponent passing yards per game (218.8). However, if Kansas City can rip off some runs against New England’s third-ranked rushing defense, it will open up the passing game for Kelce, Rice, etc.
