The Kansas City Chiefs need a win in Week 13 against the surging Green Bay Packers to keep pace for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but can they get it?

Kansas City is coming off a come-from-behind win against the Las Vegas Raiders, and the team is favored in primetime in Week 13 by six points.

Green Bay picked up a huge win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day last week, pushing the team back into the conversation for a playoff spot in the NFC. Still, Kansas City’s defense (No. 8 in yards per play allowed) is a much different beast than the Detroit defense.

One of the hardest things to do in a game is predict the final score, but if you can get it right, it can be a very lucrative way to win from a betting perspective. So, why don’t we try for this Sunday Night Football matchup?

Using the latest odds for the Chiefs-Packers game, here’s how I’m predicting the final score:

Chiefs vs. Packers odds, spread and total

Chiefs score prediction

Based on the odds for this game, Vegas expects the Chiefs to win this matchup by about a touchdown, but it also isn’t expected to be high scoring. The total for this matchup is set at just 42.5 points.

While that may seem low, the UNDER is 30-7 in primetime so far in the 2023 season. That’s a crazy trend, and it’s one that could continue with a solid Chiefs defense taking on a quarterback like Jordan Love.

Love has bumped his completion percentage up in recent weeks, but he’s still at just 60.5 percent in the 2023 season.

For this game to go UNDER and for the Chiefs to cover the spread, it’s going to take somewhat of a dominant performance from Kansas City.

Still, the best way to attack the Packers is on the ground. The team is 26th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed this season but it is No. 8 against the pass.

That may limit Kansas City’s ability for big plays, and I really like the Chiefs defense to slow down Love and company.

I lean with the Chiefs to cover, but this game is going to stay low scoring.

Final score prediction: Chiefs 23, Packers 16
