With multiple active roster spots open coming into the day, the Kansas City Chiefs made a series of transactions that not only filled those spots but rearranged some of the practice squad in a flurry of minor moves on Wednesday.

The most important moves bring two new faces to the active roster with the promotions of running back Keaontay Ingram and linebacker Cole Christiansen from the practice squad.

Ingram is a much-needed addition to the offensive backfield given that Isiah Pacheco was just placed on injured reserve earlier this week after fracturing his fibula in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In addition, the Chiefs came into the regular season down another man in Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who was placed on the NFI list late in the preseason schedule.

The Chiefs announced a series of roster moves that bolstered both sides of the ball.

Ingram has been with the Chiefs practice squad since the middle of last year, and the former Arizona Cardinals back earned praise from Chiefs general manager Brett Veach in the offseason as a player to watch for the coming year. The former sixth-round pick will hope for better results with the Chiefs than he saw in Arizona.

Christiansen provides some help in the second level of the defense where the team's play has been lacking to start the season. Whether it's early season rust or the lack of chemistry without Willie Gay Jr, who left this spring for a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, opposing offenses have lit up the Chiefs for serious intermediate yards—especially tight ends.

In other Chiefs news, the team did come to an official agreement with running back Kareem Hunt, which brings him back for the first time since his release in 2018, and he'll start on the practice squad. The Chiefs also added tight end Peyton Hendershot back to the practice squad after releasing him earlier this week and watching him clear waivers. Hendershot was acquired from the Dallas Cowboys in a late preseason swap.
