Chiefs rumors: L'Jarius Sneed draws trade interest from Titans
By Matt Conner
The latest winds swirling around the NFL have a fellow AFC team interested in being L'Jarius Sneed's new home with a report that the Tennessee Titans are interested in trading for the Kansas City Chiefs cornerback.
Plenty of rumors continue to swirl around Sneed even as he remains connected to a Kansas City Chiefs team that has expressed a desire to bring him back. At this point, it's hard to know what to believe about where Sneed will be this summer or what the Chiefs will do, but it's clear that anything is possible.
The Tennessee Titans are among the teams rumored to be in on Sneed in a potential trade.
For those who think the Chiefs wouldn't re-sign him, it's important to note that Patrick Mahomes just restructured his contract and converted more salary to a signing bonus in order to give the Chiefs some breathing room against the salary cap. The total reworked is $21.6 million, per ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.
That sort of money will help the Chiefs create the space to make a considerable move, and perhaps that means keeping the band together for another run at a title. That said, the Chiefs are shopping Sneed for a reason and a great way to create leverage is to make the other party believe you might not want to part with the asset in question after all.
As for the Titans, they need a big-time cornerback and are often tied to one of the top corners in this year's draft class. They could certainly repair their concerns in a single offseason by chasing both or they could try to lure in Sneed while saving their top pick to fix another position.
