The Kansas City Chiefs are officially back in training camp and that means players are going to have to adjust to the tolls of Andy Reid's practices if they want to find themselves successful in the coming season.

On Saturday, the Chiefs veterans joined the quarterbacks and rookies at the start of training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, and that meant the initial conditioning test and practice in front of fans. Most players were able to make it back to camp but there were a few noticeable absences.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones remains out as he hopes for a new long-term contract extension. His linemate Turk Wharton was also out given his placement on the team's Physically Unable to Play list. From there, however, two new names joined them on the sidelines: offensive tackle Wanya Morris and wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

Morris and Toney sat out the first official practice session of Chiefs training camp on Saturday.

Morris was the team's third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft after trading up to get the Oklahoma product. Morris is hoping to secure a swing tackle role, at minimum while competing with Donovan Smith for more than that at left tackle as Jawaan Taylor has the right side locked down. However, Andy Reid stated after practice that Morris is dealing with a hamstring injury and was forced to sit out on Saturday.

As for Toney, he was okay at the start of practice but he tweaked his knee early and sat out of the rest of Saturday's session. Toney comes to the Chiefs with an extensive injury history so his availability will be a key storyline this preseason as hopes to turn the corner there with a new team and athletic training staff.

Prince Tega Wanogho found himself working at left tackle on Saturday with the second-team unit and Justyn Ross was given first-team WR reps on offense which was quite interesting to see. Ross was also on return duties in camp as well as he tries his best to secure a spot on the active roster.
