Chiefs news: Two lineman charged with marijuana possession
By Matt Conner
It's been an offseason to forget in a lot of ways for the Kansas City Chiefs, but the drama continues to unfold with word that two of the team's linemen were arrested for marijuana possession on Friday in Johnson County, Kansas.
Chiefs offensive tackles Wanya Morris and Jason Godrick were both reportedly arrested, charged, and released on Friday.
The Chiefs have given no official statement on the matter.
A zany offseason continues to offer more twists and turns for the Chiefs.
Morris is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs out of Oklahoma from the 2023 NFL Draft who earned some late-season starts for the team down the stretch at left tackle when Donovan Smith was injured. He enters this season as the de facto starter on the left side who will compete with this year's second-round selection, Kingsley Suamataia.
Godrick is a former prospect in the NFL's International Player Pathways program in 2023 who joined the Chiefs roster in the hopes of learning the sport and growing into a useful component. He's remained with the team since then as an offensive tackle, and it will be interesting to see if he can stick without the IPP designation and roster protection. (The Chiefs get an extra roster spot for that year for an IPP player.)
