It's a big day for Chiefs Kingdom with the conclusion of mandatory minicamp and the unveiling of the team's Super Bowl rings from winning SBLVIII. Let's look at some of the latest news.

Third RIng Bling

The Chiefs received their latest Super Bowl rings on Thursday at a special ceremony during which players, coaches, executives, scouts, and staff members all received the ultimate prize following a magical season in which they topped the San Francisco 49ers to claim consecutive Lombardi Trophies.

It's hard not to be impressed by this year's ring, made by Josten's, which includes a special Norma Hunt patch on the inside of the ring and the winning play engraved on the underside of the top layer. Ther ring itself is filled with plenty of symbolism and meaning at every turn.

A certain someone looks good with all three rings earned (so far).

Welcome Alex Gubner

The Chiefs added Alex Gubner to the roster on Thursday, a rookie free agent out of the University of Montana who took the spot of recently released punter Ryan Rehkow (BYU).

Gubner joins an interesting mix of players and was the standout of some players at the position trying out during the team's mandatory minicamp, including former BYU Cougar Jackson Cravens.

The Chiefs had already taken a close look at Gubner following the draft but decided to pass at the time. The Denver Broncos also had him in for a closer look, but Gubner now has a chance to compete once training camp rolls around against other roster hopefuls like Isaiah Buggs, Neil Farrell, and fellow rookie free agent Fabien Lovett.

Gubner, who stands 6'3" and weighs 285 lbs., finished his collegiate career with 28.5 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks.

Joe Thuney's timeline

No one wants to play it this close, but it looks as if the Chiefs are preparing to be without Joe Thuney at training camp. The good news is that Andy Reid said on Thursday that he expects Joe Thuney will be back in time for Week 1.

Thuney has been nursing a pectoral muscle injury this offseason that has kept him out of all offseason.

The good news is that Thuney's absence provides that much more playing time and an opportunity for younger players to get a step in there—names like Hunter Norzad.
