No one could have foreseen just how much the Kansas City Chiefs would need wide receiver Rashee Rice to play a major role in 2023. The good news is that he was up for the task despite being a rookie in head coach Andy Reid's complicated offensive system, and his production is turning heads on offseason lists and reflections.
One of the earliest season wrap-up honors coming Rice's way is his inclusion on The Athletic's All-Rookie Team for the 2023 seaosn.
Rashee Rice is bound to earn more than a few postseason honors for a stellar rookie season.
Overall, the Chiefs only landed one rookie on the list, but even that would have been a big surprise coming into the season considering how young and deep the team already was coming into a new year. For Rice to have earned as much playing time as he did and to generate the production that warranted it was a testament to his talent and hard work.
The other wideouts to be honored on the team included L.A. Rams WR Puka Nacua, Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers, and Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed.
Rice was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round at No. 55 overall during the 2023 NFL Draft as part of an acclaimed receiver class coming out of college. He had 96 catches for 1,355 receiving yards in his final season at SMU and 19 total touchdowns in his final two years for the Mustangs.
Rashee Rice had 79 catches for 938 receiving yards and 7 scores for the Chiefs during the regular season. He's added another 12 catches for 177 yards and 1 touchdown during their current postseason run.
