Chiefs news: Preview the new adidas Mahomes 1.0 Impact FLX drop

Back in the offseason, I wrote a piece challenging adidas to do more to maximize their brand relationship with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Part of that criticism was specific to how adidas was handling Patrick Mahomes' signature shoe the Mahomes 1.0 Impact FLX. To date, 10 colorways of the silhouette have been released. It was curious to me I had seen an away-inspired color-blocking of the shoe floating around social media, but it had not been made available to the general public.

According to a recent press release from adidas, that will change next week when the brand unveils Mahomes 1.0 Impact FLX "Away." This will be the 11th colorway in the collection (the second of which is inspired by the Kansas City Chiefs team colors). The newest colorway has a mostly-white upper with hits of red throughout the shoe. A mid-sized adidas logo is featured near the midfoot along with a red overlay on the back quarter panels, on both the lateral and medial sides of the shoe. The shoe is marked for its bootie-style construction and BOOST cushioning in the heel. The outsole is an icy translucent blue color with red accents and the adidas logo is prominently featured at the rear of the shoe.

"Our fans are everything to us, whether that’s at home or on the road, Chiefs Kingdom rolls together," said Mahomes about the shoe. "This colorway is dedicated to all those fans who make the trip or have their roots in Kansas City. There’s much more to come next year as my partnership with adidas continues to grow."

The signature training shoe was originally launched in August 2021. Along with the sneaker, Mahomes also has a line of complementary apparel. Both the shoe and the accompanying clothing line feature Mahomes' signature logo. Chris McGuire, Vice President of Sports Marketing at adidas, said the brand had worked closely with Mahomes on the line to reflect his style, personality and dedication to fans. "Patrick is an integral part of the adidas fiamily — we are excited for the future as we continue to co-create training and performance apparel and footwear with him."

The Mahomes 1.0 Impact FLX "Away" will be available for purchase starting October 3 for $140 on adidas.com/us/patrick_mahomes and through the adidas app. adidas and adiClub members will receive exclusive access starting October 1. And check out more preview photos below (courtesy of adidas).
