It looked like a potential lower leg injury for Kadarius Toney in training camp on Wednesday.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been working with wide receiver Kadarius Toney in different ways in training camp this summer as they attempt to maximize his talents in the team's offense. However, those experiments will now take a backseat until the team can make sure he's healthy after suffering a potential leg injury on Wednesday.

The Chiefs were in the midst of a mid-week practice session in St. Joseph when Toney went up in the air to catch a pass from quarterback Chris Oladokun. Undrafted free agent corner D.J. Miller, a rookie otu of Kent State, also tried to make a play for the ball and Toney came up injured.

After seeking some medical attention from trainers, he was removed from the practice fields via the team's medical cart for further evaluation.

Toney joined the Chiefs via a mid-season trade in 2022 with the New York Giants. The Chiefs sent a third-round choice and a future sixth-rounder for two-plus years of Toney's cost-controlled contract as a former first-round pick. The hope was to add a legitimate offensive spark after trading Tyreek Hill months before.

Unfortunately for Toney, his stint with the Chiefs has been marred by mental errors and health concerns—including hip, ankle, and hamstring injuries. Last year, he had 27 catches for 169 yards and 1 touchdown in 13 games for Kansas City.

After the Chiefs declined his fifth-year option in May, Toney will be a free agent following the completion of the '24 season.

Two other Chiefs player also ended their practice early, per P.J. Green of FOX 4: tight end Izaiah Gathings and lineman Jason Godrick.
