Chiefs mock draft: Taking the best player available in each round
By Price Carter
Round 3 (Pick 89): Braden Fiske, DI, Florida State
Fiske transferred to Florida State this year after spending his first two seasons at Western Michigan where he was dominant. This year he continues to produce with 3 sacks and 4.5 TFLs. He also had a dominant performance in the ACC Championship. For an interior defensive tackle, Fiske is slightly undersized. He's more of a penetrator than a gap stuffer, but he is explosive and uses leverage well. At 24 years old there's reason to question the ceiling of a player like Fiske but the production is enticing.
How he fits: Fiske is not a Derrick Nnadi replacement he would be closer to what the Chiefs have used Chris Jones as. You can't bank on him replicating what Jones does as a player but their roles could be similar. Pairing Fiske with a run stuffer in free agency such as DJ Reader or Grover Stewart could be a quick easy fix for a defensive line potentially losing 3 starters.
