Chiefs lose linebacker to hamstring injury vs Jets
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs are already down one linebacker coming into Week 4 with the news that Nick Bolton was going to sit out his second straight game on Sunday against the New York Jets. Just one quarter into the game and the Chiefs are down another. This time, it's Cole Christiansen who has been lost to injury.
Christiansen suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter and was declared out by the team shortly thereafter.
Specifically a special teams contributor, Christiansen has been with Kansas City's practice squad for the full season until he was elevated for Sunday's game to help Dave Toub's units. Unfortunately, he was only able to log just over a quarter of production until being injured.
Coming into the game, it's important to note that linebacker Willie Gay Jr. was also dealing with a quad injury this week in practice. If that becomes an issue throughout this game, the Chiefs could be looking thin in the second level of the defense. Here's hoping the unit stays healthy.
Christiansen joined the Chiefs in 2022 as a practice squad signing after originally spending time with the L.A. Chargers to start his NFL career as a rookie free agent.
