The Los Angeles Chargers are the team that could use some reinforcements, but they're coming into Week 7—a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs—as both the underdog and the team that's most beat up.
Currently, the Chargers are 2-3 and sitting in third place in the AFC West behind the (once again) division-leading Chiefs at 5-1. A loss on Sunday afternoon will send them reeling to a 3.5-game deficit in the division and a tough road ahead in the AFC playoff picture as well.
Beyond the disparity in records, it's the Chiefs who look healthy and rested this week and more help is on the way. Justin Watson came into this week as the only player who was declared out by Friday, and the Chiefs will get defensive lineman Charles Omenihu back from suspension and they also just traded for Mecole Hardman as well. Those are fairly significant contributors to add at midseason.
Let's look at the lists of players who will be inactive for Week 7 between the Chargers and Chiefs.
As for the Chargers, they have four players out and two more players are questionable as they try to hold things together for a road upset. The list of those already sitting includes wide receiver Jalen Guyton, cornerback Deane Leonard, defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia, and safety Alohi Gilman.
No one should be overlooking the Chargers, however, despite the situation in play. Any team that has Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa anchoring a defense with Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler, and Keenan Allen on offense is always going to be a tough out. The Chargers have also played the Chiefs quite tough in recent years, even in losing causes.
