5 free agent running backs not named Austin Ekeler the Chiefs could sign

5. J.K. Dobbins
We have come to the wildcard. Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins is unlikely to return to the team that drafted him, and it's not hard to see the reason why. Injuries have dominated the start to his career. He's torn both his ACL and Achilles since entering the league as a second-round pick back in 2020.
Yet, when he's been on the field, Dobbins has been electric both as a runner and a pass catcher. For his career, Dobbins has rushed 234 times for 1,347 yards (an average of 5.8) and has caught 27 passes for 177 yards. He's found the end zone a total of 13 times (12 on the ground).
This is a big-time "if," but if Dobbins were to sign in Kansas City and remain healthy, he could be an x-factor for this offense next to Pacheco. Dobbins has proven to be a big play waiting to happen in both phases of the offense. He just needs to stay on the field. He needs a chance.
Most believe Dobbins will be in for a one-year "prove it" type of contract this offseason.
