Even as defending champs, the Chiefs have an obvious problem at wide receiver.

Sure, not all problems are the same, but the Kansas City Chiefs have one at wide receiver nonetheless.

So long as the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes on the field, they'll always be a candidate for a deep postseason run, but no one can deny that the Chiefs were lacking in the playmaker department for most of last season and that Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice could use some running mates.

Sure, Marquez Valdes-Scantling finally made a play when it counted in the postseason and Mecole Hardman and Justin Watson had moments as well in the Super Bowl. But, you can rest assured this Chiefs team will have a much-improved receiving core going into the 2024 season.

Let's take a brief look ahead at some receiving options the Chiefs will have during the offseason which could make this team even more dangerous next year.

1. Adonai Mitchell, Texas, 2024 NFL Draft Prospect

The Chiefs will own the last picks in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, which is where they could end up finding Texas standout Adonai Mitchell. For a late-first, early-second type of talent, Mitchell is as good as they get.

Standing 6-foot-4 and looking every bit of a legitimate WR1 frame, Mitchell has some desirable traits. He's much faster than he might appear, boasting long strides and explosive straight-line speed. His body control is impressive, both when it comes to making the acrobatic catches and also during the simpler routes where he gives quarterbacks an easier, open-facing target.

Mitchell is stronger than he might look, too. He can overpower defensive backs in a way that might surprise some. And, one other impressive attribute is the fact that he's a hands catcher. He'll use his hands first, and his body only if needed.

This last season, Mitchell ended with 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the Chiefs, he'd very well have a chance to establish himself as the top wideout from the get-go.
