Kansas City Chiefs fans everywhere eagerly await what the team will do with the newfound savings after trading cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. According to Spotrac, the Chiefs currently have $26,488,468 in cap space to play with before the season starts. That is a whole lot of chicky nuggies folks.

Most eyes are rightfully on the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and who the Chiefs will select. The thing is, they can't rely on draft picks in their quest for the three-peat. A splashy free agent reenergizes the fanbase, but this roster could use some additions deeper down the depth chart.

Will Kansas City turn to old friends for a solution? It is a viable option, albeit an uninspiring one. But Kansas City did not jump on keeping these four free agents for various reasons. Here are some former Chiefs still looking for work ahead of the 2024 season.

QB Blaine Gabbert

I already detailed Blaine Gabbert's 2023 season in Kansas City days ahead of the team adding Carson Wentz as a backup quarterback. I would still be surprised if the former first-rounder doesn't find a new team before the 2024 season starts.

Gabbert's limited 2023 action wasn't much to write home about. His 3 interceptions were his most since 2018, and Gabbert threw them in only two games. He is a backup for a reason after all. But, some teams could still use him as an emergency option, sacrificial starter, or a combination of both.
