KC Chiefs UDFA to be excited about No. 3: Jerome Carvin, Interior Offensive Lineman, Tennessee

In the modern NFL, having considerable depth on both the offensive and defensive lines is crucial, and the Kansas City Chiefs recognize this importance. The team bolstered their interior offensive line depth by adding Jerome Carvin, a former teammate of Trey Smith from Tennessee.

Carvin's standout quality lies in his versatility and extensive experience. He accumulated several hundred snaps at all three interior offensive line positions and amassed over 2,800 career snaps. Notably, he displayed competence against power rushers and showcased a reliable anchor during his tenure at Tennessee.

However, it's important to acknowledge that Carvin is somewhat of a project, which is not uncommon for undrafted players. His hand technique requires significant improvement, and his power may not fully align with his physical stature. Additionally, he doesn't possess exceptional mobility as a blocker, which is not ideal in Andy Reid's offense.

Barring any surprising performances during training camp and preseason, it is unlikely that Jerome Carvin will survive final cuts. The Chiefs boast exceptional talent on the interior offensive line, with established players like Nick Allegretti and Darian Kinnard providing solid depth. Carvin will probably spend the 2023 season on the practice squad, allowing him to further develop and compete for a roster spot in 2024.
