This offseason is going to be a doozy folks. Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and his staff cannot rest after the team's Super Bowl LVIII victory. NFL free agency will officially open on March 13, the NFL combine is underway in Indianapolis, and Kansas City could lose two of their top defenders to free agency. The clock never stops in the NFL.

It is important to take stock of where Kansas City sits financially through the offseason. There may be impactful cap casualties or late-developing free agents the Chiefs could add, but only if the numbers allow it. This front office may look to extend some notable players early, such as linebacker Nick Bolton, if there is cap space after offloading some unwanted commitments.

These are the most problematic financial commitments on the Chiefs' books heading into the offseason.

Those are just two of the reasons Chiefs fans should be aware of these albatross contracts because some of those decisions will hurt. Cutting wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was a no-brainer from a football aspect, but he was still a consummate professional, a great community member, and a two-time champion in Kansas City. Some roster cuts will see good players go, and good men leave the locker room, but at the end of the day, it is just business.

A lot has changed since I last made this list, with two of those three players no longer employed by the Chiefs. The other player, well he is still on the contractual chopping block. Let's take a look at Kansas City's three worst contracts ahead of free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.

Honorable mentions: Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Kadarius Toney, Lucas Niang
