It's just hard to get over some past relationships.

Manny Ogbah

Okay, okay, we're going to be actually serious now. We promise.

If we're looking at players we'd really like to see return to the team, then we need at least one entry where a player is both available, still able to contribute, and would fit a need, right? At this point, we've recalled a retired backup quarterback and a taken defensive tackle, so it might help to hit free agency and shop for a second.

The good news is that the Miami Dolphins have provided exactly what we need.

Over the weekend, the Dolphins made the decision to terminate the contract of Emmanuel Ogbah and make him a free agent. His production at this stage wasn't matching the big-money contract they'd offered him, so it makes sense for the team to release him at this point. However, Ogbah is still useful and is actually an ideal candidate to return to the Chiefs.

Consider that Ogbah has already played for the Chiefs for one season under Steve Spagnuolo before cashing in with the Dolphins in the first place back in 2019. Since then, he's spent the last four years in South Florida racking up sacks and paychecks until Friday when he was finally let go.

Now at the age of 30, Ogbah is not what he once was, but he still has value as a situational pass rusher who had 5.5 sacks last year in only 25 percent of all snaps in 17 games for Miami. That's the sort of veteran addition the Chiefs could use in the face of potential free agent losses along the defensive front and with Charles Omenihu rehabbing a major injury.
