3 Chiefs who need to play better to help KC get to another Super Bowl
Somehow, despite the Kansas City Chiefs putting together their worst season in the Patrick Mahomes era, the team still finds themselves one win away from appearing in another Super Bowl. Elite quarterback problems, right?
For the Chiefs to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, they have to play mistake-free football. While the offense played its best game of the season in the 27-24 win over Buffalo in the AFC Divisional Round, mistakes were made and the Chiefs were certainly lucky that their mistakes didn't cost them the win.
With the AFC Championship Game just around the corner, let's take a look at three members of the Chiefs who need to play better and not cost their team a chance at making another Super Bowl.
Mecole Hardman
Chiefs fans were excited when Mecole Hardman rejoined the team after a brief stint with the New York Jets. Hardman has been a part of some huge returns for the Chiefs during their playoff runs and that's what the team was hoping for when they traded for him before the deadline.
Unfortunately, Hardman's reunion with the team that drafted him hasn't gone entirely according to plan and his performance in the AFC Divisional Round was downright awful. Hardman touched the ball twice in the eventual win but his efforts did not help the team win the game. In fact, had the Chiefs lost this game, Hardman would have been one of the players blamed for the loss.
Hardman fumbled the football both times it was in his hands. The second time he fumbled the football came at 1st-and-Goal right after the Bills had attempted a fake punt and failed. This felt like it could have been the turning point for KC but no points were scored due to Hardman fumbling the ball through the end zone.
Fortunately, the game wasn't lost because of Hardman's mistakes but he needs to be better if the Chiefs want to win this Sunday. If Hardman is given a chance to redeem himself, he better hold onto the dang football.
