2024 NFL mock draft: Chiefs linked with multiple dynamic defenders
By Matt Conner
Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU
In his latest mock draft, Luke Easterling of Sports Illustrated has the Chiefs sowing some investments up front in a move that would likely agree with the wishes of many fans. He has the Chiefs taking offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia out of Brigham Young University.
About Suamataia, Easterling writes, "Suamataia would give Kansas City an immediate upgrade and a long-term solution at a premium position."
That last part is what would come as a relief to so many Chiefs fans who are tired of the season-by-season approach at the position. This year, the Chiefs drafted Wanya Morris in late April but also signed Donovan Smith in early May. Considering this answer for left tackle came after the tumultuous back and forth with Orlando Brown the previous year.
If Suamataia is the answer for the position, it would also mean closing down the Wanya Morris experiment for the most part (other than swing tackle) and Lucas Niang would most certainly be jettisoned. But if it also means a predictable five years of blindside protection for the best player in the game, it could be worth making such a selection early. dfd
