As per usual, Kansas City Chiefs fans are going to have to wait on draft night.
The opening night of the 2024 NFL Draft is going to be a long one for the Kansas City Chiefs. But no one should feel bad. The franchise and its fans wouldn't have it any other way.
The price for an ongoing dynasty these days is a long, long wait until the end of every round of the annual first-year player draft, and it appears that 2024 is going to be the same. The Chiefs came through on the ultra-rare repeat bid for a Super Bowl ring, which means they're in rare territory among the greatest NFL teams ever—and also sitting at No. 32 overall.
That's okay, even for draft purposes. General manager Brett Veach has gotten a lot out of lower draft slots in the past and he can do so again in 2024. This draft class is loaded which means a nice value should drop all the way to the bottom of the first round (and well beyond). If anything it might work out best for the Chiefs to trade out of the first round entirely to pick up extra picks in the heart of the draft.
But those projections are best held for another day. For now, we've got the official first-round order while we wait for compensatory picks to be analyzed and announced by the league in the coming weeks to know exactly how the rest of the six rounds will look.
Here's a look at the official order of the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
