No one thought when the 2026 schedule dropped that the Week 4 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders would be a battle of the unbeatens. That's exactly where we're at, though. After three weeks of play, the Chiefs and Raiders are both 3-0, and now a Week 4 showdown in Las Vegas will determine who is on top of the AFC West after one month of action.
It's a strange turn of events, not because the Chiefs are undefeated but because the Raiders, who nobody expected to be any good, are also in that boat. And now it all builds up to the two undefeated divisional foes squaring off this weekend in Sin City.
The Chiefs have a surprising advantage in Las Vegas
While an undefeated Raiders team that is sizzling on offense with the likes of Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty might be a bit scary to think about, the Chiefs have a massive advantage. As crazy as it sounds, that advantage is playing in the Raiders' home stadium.
Normally, being the road team against a division rival would be intimidating, but the Raiders and Allegiant Stadium, their home base since 2020, aren't exactly that. This isn't Mile High Stadium in Denver or the old Black Hole that the Raiders used to play in. Not at all.
Not only is the Raiders' stadium typically filled with half of the opposing team's fans, but it has not been any sort of scary obstacle for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. In fact, they have been so good there that Allegiant Stadium has commonly been referred to as Arrowhead West amongst the fanbase.
Patrick Mahomes has thrived indoors
The Chiefs famously won the first-ever Super Bowl hosted in Allegiant Stadium back in 2024, and that was only the beginning of their domination in their most hated rival's home. Allegiant Stadium and indoor stadiums in general have been good to Mahomes overall, though.
Simply put, Mahomes has been nearly unbeatable when playing indoors. He's 16-2 when playing indoors, while tossing 43 touchdowns to just six interceptions and averaging 316 yards per game. Chiefs fans aren't surprised in the slightest to hear this, but it's a nice stat to reiterate as a crucial game taking place indoors approaches.
It makes sense that not having to deal with the elements would be helpful for any quarterback. Mahomes certainly has taken advantage, and fans hope to see him do the same on Sunday against the silver and black. A 4-0 start and a lead in the AFC West depend on it.
