The National Football League has served up plenty of thrilling games in this year's postseason, a bit of a surprising and positive twist considering that some of its biggest stars are sitting at home this winter. (Here's looking at everyone on the Kansas City Chiefs roster.)
Perhaps no game has been as entertaining as the L.A. Rams' divisional round win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. At the very least, no single play has been as shocking as one that made Caleb Williams the subject of instant national (perhaps global?) conversation.
With 27 seconds left in regulation, the Bears were down 17-10 with the ball in the red zone. However, Williams and company were facing a 4th-and-4 situation, with the Rams hoping to put them away. Williams faced incredible pressure on the play and ended up running backwards from the 14-yard line to the 40 before heaving a pass to the back of the end zone. There, he found tight end Cole Kmet for one of the most exciting plays in recent NFL postseason history.
NO WAY. CALEB WILLIAMS HEAVES IT ON 4TH DOWN.

Mahomes spoke for all of us when he responded to Caleb Williams' miraculous touchdown throw in the Bears' loss to the Rams.
From there, social media became a communal exclamation point in response to Williams' incredible throw. What looked like an unlikely desperation throw turned into a beautiful completion downfield and it looked as if the Bears might shock the Rams with the season's most deflating play.
While everyone with a social media account ended up posting some sort of overwhelmed response, one such take came from Patrick Mahomes—perhaps the only quarterback with multiple plays that could match the drama of that one from Williams. If any quarterback knows what it's like to deliver the magic in such important moments, it's Mahomes, which is why his praise likely means a little more for Williams (assuming he sees such things).
🤣🤣🤣 awesome!

Unfortunately for Williams and the rest of the Bears, the season ended shortly thereafter despite the late-game heroics. Williams had a chance to put the Rams away and move on to the NFC conference championship, but an attempt to hit D.J. Moore downfield for what would have been the nail in the coffin for the Rams turned into a Kamren Curl interception. The Rams would go on to win the game on a short field goal by Harrison Mevis to win by a final score of 20-17.
