Thursday was a good day for Patrick Mahomes.
Coming into the 2025 offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs were on the edge of potentially losing a ton of Mahomes's support on offense. Tight end Travis Kelce was on the fence about whether or not he was ready to return for another season after a tough loss in Super Bowl LIX. Trey Smith was being termed as one of the most desirable free agent targets for multiple teams.
Now it looks like both players will continue to call Arrowhead Stadium their home during football seasons. Thus, it's not a surprise to see Mahomes respond the way that he did on social media.

In case you missed all of the latest, sources told Pat McAfee, who was broadcasting from the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, that Kelce was coming back for another season. He sounded quite motivated after tasting the bitterness of such a lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59.
As for Smith, the 25-year-old has been a ferocious mauler in front of Mahomes at right guard for the last four years and was set to remake the market at the position. Teams like the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots looked poised to make him an overwhelming offer, but the Chiefs reversed course on an earlier report and used the franchise tag on him. The goal, it seems, is to buy more time to negotiate a long-term deal.
While Mahomes might lose some of his friends this offseason to free agency or roster decisions, at the very least, he will apparently enjoy having his most trusted target as well as maintain the best offensive interior in the entire NFL for one more season. There's no three-peat at stake anymore, but that won't stop Mahomes and company from chasing further glory once again.
