All books have chapters, and all chapters must come to an end. In Kansas City Chiefs lore, the Book of Patrick Mahomes closed its first chapter on December 14, 2025.
The page was already beginning to turn as the worst season in over a decade slowly materialized. When Mahomes tore his ACL, and the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention just a few minutes later, it was a wrap.
Nine straight AFC West titles, five Super Bowl appearances, and three Lombardis. Not bad for a chapter. There are franchises that would take that amount of success across their entire history, not just 10 years. It was a great time. We laughed, we cried.
But now it's time to turn the page. A new era is about to begin, and I'm calling it Mahomes Mania. This single video on social media is already getting me hyped.

Mahomes has consistently said that he wants to play in Week 1, and at this point, I have no reason to doubt him. Contrary to the haters, I think the next chapter is going to be incredible.
Why do I think this? Look no further than the GOAT, Tom Brady. Many forget that Tom Brady also tore his ACL way back in 2008 after three Super Bowl wins and a near-perfect season. (Fun fact: current Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo orchestrated the defense that brought the Patriots one game short. On top of that, it was none other than the Kansas City Chiefs who were playing the Patriots in that opening week when Brady tore his ACL.)
So what happened after Brady tore his ACL? Well, it took a few years, but he ultimately appeared in six more Super Bowls, winning four of them. He arguably had a better career after that injury than before. So am I worried about Mahomes at this point? Absolutely not.
I am confident that in 15 years, when we look back on this era, it will have been more successful than the previous 10. That may sound hard to believe, but it's Patrick Mahomes. Bent leg, broken leg, bionic leg, it doesn't matter.
Mahomes Mania, here we come.
