The Kansas City Chiefs heard your complaints about their running back room and upgraded it the best way possible. The team agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth over $43 million with Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker, giving them the explosive running back their offense has been missing during the Patrick Mahomes era.
Speaking of Mahomes, he was fired up about the signing and didn't hesitate to let that show on social media. After the deal was reported, Mahomes posted a simple, "LETS GO!!" with two flexing emojis on X. Needless to say, he's excited about his new running back.

Patrick Mahomes can't hide his excitement about Kenneth Walker signing
The Chiefs have always seemed to put their run game needs on the back burner year after year and it's really hurt them recently. That's why fans were hoping Brett Veach would swing for the fences this offseason and go for Walker (or if not him, Breece Hall or Travis Etienne). Veach clearly heard the complaints and decided to dream big.
It makes sense that Mahomes is excited about Walker joining his offense because he'll take pressure off of him. Mahomes is going to be coming off an ACL injury that he suffered late in the 2025 regular season so it was even more important to have help in the rushing attack to help Mahomes out in any way possible.
Mahomes wasn't the only one to react to the news though, as Chris Jones also was stoked about the team's newest addition. Jones posted a camera emoji and a crown emoji and ".....we're so back". Hopefully he's right!

Jones wasn't the only one chiming in alongside Mahomes. Former Chiefs offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz had some insight into what the signing means for the offense overall.
The Chiefs don’t need to commit to the run! They need a home run hitter who can make defenses pay for staying in 2 high and light boxes. Either the D opens up the run game for explosives, or they get scared and change and open up some pass game. Walker should be a perfect fit! 👍

Walker, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns last year while also making an impact as a pass-catcher. He caught 31 passes for 282 yards and while he didn't have any receiving touchdowns, that's still production any team would take from their running back.
If the Chiefs run game can finally get up and running with Walker at the helm, this offense might be back to its old self. That's got to be a terrifying thought for the rest of the NFL so it makes perfect sense why Mahomes is so fired up and amped for his newest weapon.
